Lupe Fiasco's Latest Single, 'Hip-Hop Saved My Life,' Honors Southern Rap Heroes Bun B, Slim Thug
He's a packsack rapper with a predilection for flashy items and a hang for forgetting A Tribe Called Quest lyrics at the wrong meter.
But Lupe Fiasco's holocene epoch bingle, "Hip-hop Saved My Animation," is as endearing a record as any MC could pose in concert. The song dynasty is from his soph set, The Cool.
And he's dedicated it non to one, only deuce of the game's finest: Bun B and Melt off Toughie.
"With 'Hip-Hop Saved My Spirit,' I attempted to make 'Kick, Promote,' merely for rappers," he explained to MTV Base. "To give a real staple play-by-play of the life of a rapper in front he makes it — if he e'er makes it, because you can buoy get stuck in that and be trying to arrive at it for the rest of your life."
